YM team has collaborated with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to conduct research on minor ports in ASEAN. The goal of this research is to design a green, energy-efficient, human-centered, and intelligent container water transport network, with key hub ports like Singapore serving as the central nodes, covering small and medium-sized towns along coastal and inland waterways in the ASEAN region.
On August 9 and September 9, 2024, the two teams held online meetings to discuss the progress and development of the project. The NUS team introduced the background, research content, and plans for the project, while the YM team shared Chinese experience in the development of domestic inland ports and provided suggestions on the content and direction of the ASEAN minor port research. Professor Li Haobin from NUS outlined the next steps in the project, and Researcher Yang Haisheng, the head of the YM team, offered guidance on the research plan.
This collaborative project aims to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable development within the ASEAN region by establishing a smart and sustainable water transport network.
