YM Tech. has partnered with NingboTech University to establish the Smart Port Research Institute, the first academic research institution in China dedicated to the field of smart ports. The institute aims to create a new comprehensive innovation platform that integrates science, industry, and education. It will focus on in-depth research and demonstration applications of digitalization, intelligence, and informatization in ports, promoting the exchange and transformation of innovative results. Additionally, the institute will explore modern talent development and innovation practices in port-related fields, fostering a deep integration of science, industry, and education to contribute to the development of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.

On July 3, 2024, the inauguration of the Smart Port Research Institute and the appointment ceremony of Researcher Yang Haisheng took place at NingboTech University. The event was attended by prominent figures, including internationally renowned port expert Bao Qifan, Dean of the Logistics Research Institute at East China Normal University, Peng Jie, Deputy General Manager of Ningbo Meidong Container Terminal Co., Ltd., as well as university President Yang Deren (Academician), Vice Presidents Zhang Xianmin and Lu Dongming, the chief scientist of the Smart Port and Services discipline group, key officials from relevant university departments and schools, and  YM Tech. core team members.
